It wouldn't be a party without three Erika dolls right? I was flabbergasted when I not only got my third Erika from the "$5 Bin Bonanza," but also my third Anneliese.

I've grown to be very fond of this doll over the years, and she's come to be a very special part of my collection. She's very different looking than my first gal-her makeup is a bit intense, but the rest of her features are more subtle/faint. But I don't think I could ever part with an Erika doll.even back then our connection was too strong. Some of the other dolls from the "60 Doll bin" were not so lucky-I gave my two Dance Flex Barbies and one of my Swan Lake Odette dolls away, most regretfully.

The first two years I got back into collecting dolls, I obsessed pointlessly over how many dolls were in my collection, and I often shunned duplicates or dolls that didn't meet my ridiculous standards. I'm very grateful to still have this particular Erika doll. I never found her to be quite as beautiful as my childhood girl.but there is probably a lot of bias in that statement. I guess it's fitting, since Erika was my first Princess and the Pauper doll of them all. She was my first duplicated Princess and the Pauper doll. I got her from the "60 Doll bin" during the 2013 flea market season. And when I eventually got Anneliese, Colleen and I loved making them duet for giggles whenever the two were in the same vicinity.Įrika number two was an addition to my collection when I was an adult. I loved how beautiful she looked in whatever I dressed her in. She sparked my imagination and enamored me in a time when I was starting to drift apart from dolls. This makes me even fonder and more attached to Erika. It was one of the last years I played with dolls as a kid, before I got stuck up and became "too cool" for dollies as a teenager. I have so many fond memories of playing with Erika and her adorable tabby cat. When Dad asked me what doll I wanted to get, it was Erika I chose. Erika was also donning the cooler, "peasant" ensemble which I was keen on. Erika caught my attention-Anneliese was gorgeous too, but I've always been more inclined towards brunette dolls/ethnic ones compared to the traditional blondes. Anyways, I saw Anneliese and Erika, times a million, on the big displays at this particular store. I liked princess Barbie dolls for some reason, even though it was a preference I didn't realize I had until I was an adult. The Princess and the Pauper line was brand new, and of course I was eager to scope it out. I can still recall pretty clearly the day we met at Toys 'R' Us.the day I became most captivated by her. The doll I am referring to is the gal on the far left of this photo.

Personal Fun Fact: Erika was the one that started it all for me-she was the first dolly from the Princess and the Pauper line that I owned ever. Important Notes: Erika and Anneliese were also sold in a gift set together.
